"What makes these works especially worthwhile is their aesthetic qualities. Mrs. Abrams is an extraordinary colorist, displaying an uncanny talent for making a host of different shades, from the brightest to the most muted, work deliciously together. Dazzling reds, oranges, yellows and luminescent blues dance off calm browns and greens, and low-keyed greys come alive with stunning whites, spotlighted with a dot of red. Pastels in less dexterous hands can be saccharine, but this painter turns their sweetness to an advantage of chromatic strength. She has an outstanding touch with pink."
